About Amy

Amy McCooey is a dedicated healthcare professional, community volunteer, and proud parent running to represent the residents of View Royal on Town Council.

Raised in the Lower Mainland, Amy moved to Victoria 18 years ago and made View Royal her home in 2015. Her connection to the community runs deep: her husband Chris’s family has lived in View Royal since 1946, and together they are raising the third generation of McCooeys in the neighborhood they love.

With a strong professional background in public health, Amy works as an Ultrasound Technologist at Victoria General Hospital, having previously served as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. Her years on the front lines of healthcare have taught her the value of empathy, clear communication, and precise problem-solving—qualities she brings to every aspect of her life and community work.

Beyond her professional career, Amy is deeply involved in community life as an active Parent Advisory Council (PAC) member at View Royal Elementary, and dedicated volunteer. This past spring, she took on the role of head coach for her daughter’s U9 baseball team, bringing encouragement, teamwork, and energy to the field. In her spare time, Amy stays connected to the natural beauty of the West Coast by camping, sailing, hiking, gardening and traveling with her family.

When Amy and her family built their home in View Royal in 2021, Amy gained a firsthand, ground-up understanding of the municipality. Navigating local permit processes, reviewing town bylaws, and communicating directly with municipal departments provided valuable insight into how View Royal operates.

As a candidate for council, Amy stands out as a listener, learner, and committed advocate for View Royal. Driven by enthusiasm and a genuine desire to serve, she is dedicated to ensuring View Royal remains a vibrant, welcoming, and sustainable community for every generation.
